I know I already updated many of you at the camp program on Friday evening, but for those of you who weren't there I wanted to pass along some fantastic news. Dale Harris coached our senior quizzers this summer and they are now national champions!!!
Tri-State won in the semifinals over Northeast Ohio 180-140. Then they proceeded into the finals and won the championship 210-100 over North Atlantic. Ben Michael quizzed out in the final round, but everyone did very well. Charlie, Ronica and Britney also answered jump questions in the final two rounds!
Congratulations to the whole team!

Steve's classes are approved by NANC toward becoming a certified counselor. Steve has rearranged the first semester to fit under "Informal Counseling." This means the class is beneficial to anyone who is considering a formal role as a counselor (since the first semester is required before the second), but also to anyone who simply wants to encourage and admonish other disciples.
All three of our "staff-elders" found the classes highly beneficial. Currently, the rest of our elders are looking to pursue the training as well.
Deadline for registration is January 11. Contact either church for more information.
*Steve is also offering his second semester class on the opposite Thursdays at his church in Beamsville.
Jason Bradshaw from Greenville Grace is looking to connect all the worship leaders in our district. He was thinking of a time to get together in order to compare notes on what our different churches are doing in areas of worship. This would also be a time for encouragement and sharing of ideas.
If you are interested in being a part of this, email Jason:

Cornerstone Grace which was meeting in Miamisburg for the last 3-4 years, and Centerville Grace, have merged effective July 1st to become one combined church. Cornerstone Grace was hit especially hard with the economy and about 70% of their families were transferred out of the area. Through this rather rapid decline, they sensed God’s leading to look for other ministry opportunities, rather than trying to rebuild on their own with the small group of families that remained.
Through the months of April, May and June, the leadership of Cornerstone Grace and Centerville Grace were meeting, and praying that God might use them together as a new church, to be stronger and more vibrant than the original two churches were individually. Effective July 1, both churches approved merging together at the Centerville Grace facility, and approved a budget for four pastoral staff:
Dave Homes as lead pastor
Ned Denlinger and Tim Nixon as Associates
Matt Trego as Associate of Worship Arts
The two churches are now one, and are enjoying getting to know each other better, and discovering how each member’s gifts might be used to begin ministering to the Centerville community. Five to ten years from now, we want the Centerville/Miamisburg community to be transformed through the grace of the Lord Jesus as we are obedient in loving our neighbors.
